About the journal

“Rocznik Gdański” is a Polish scientific journal published since 1927, first by Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauki I Sztuki (the Society of Friends of Science and Art) in Gdańsk, and from 1956 by the Gdańskie Towarzystwo Naukowe (Gdańsk Scientific Society) - GTN.

Before the war, 12 volumes of the Gdańsk Yearbook were published. After the end of hostilities, on July 22, 1945, the Society of Friends of Science and Art resumed its activity, however, due to publishing difficulties, volume 13 of the "Gdańsk Yearbook" was not published until 1954. In 1956, the Society of Friends of Science and Art was transformed into the Gdańsk Scientific Society. The Yearbook became a body of the GTN, supervised by the Division I of Social Sciences and Humanities of the GTN, established in 1957. In 1975, pursuant to the decision of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Yearbook was merged with Libri Gedanenses, the former organ of the Gdańsk Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

In 2019 (on May 26, 2019), an Agreement was signed between GTN and the University of Gdańsk, according to which the University of Gdańsk became the publisher of the "Yearbook of Gdańsk", and the name of the journal was extended to include: "Journal of the Gdańsk Scientific Society".

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Review procedure

After receiving the article, it is initially verified by the Editorial Team and then sent for review. Works that do not meet the formal and editorial requirements are sent back to the Authors in order to correct the text. Articles qualified by the Editorial Team are sent to reviewers from outside the unit with which the author of the publication is associated (the list of reviewers is available on the journal's website). The reviewers do not know the identity of the author, and the names of the reviewers of individual articles are not disclosed (double blind review).

The editors consider "ghostwriting" and "guest authorship" to be a blatant manifestation of scientific misconduct. All cases of such practices will be unmasked and made public, as well as reported to relevant entities (institutions employing authors, scientific societies, institutions financing science, the ministry responsible for science).

Detailed information on the responsibilities of authors, reviewers and editors can be found in the Principles of Publishing Ethics.
